I Ran into a problem with trying to do 64 bit virtualization using an older Operton 248 processor on a Sun V20z. After doing a ton of digging with
all the determination in the world to make it work, I finally realized there is no way to do it. Going down the the AMD 248 architecture guide, which
I found from some other posts, the problem was down at the register level of the processor. This was on a Sun V20z server which
runs 64bit OS units just fine, but you can't have a guest OS running in 64 bit.

Tried Citrix XEN, VMware 3.5, and Sun's VirtualBox just to find any way around it.

Moral of this story is that a V20z will do 32bit guest OS images just fine, and run a 64 bit OS as stand alone just fine. Don't try to
host a 64 bit OS on it.

If you want to do any kind of 64 bit guest OS virtualization on an Opteron, best rule of thumb is to have a 4 digit processor number such as
1210, 2218, etc.... Most all of these model CPUs support the AMD-V setting.

This would hold true with any of the early AMD Opteron processors, not just a V20z...

Yes, absolutely you can run how ever many 32bit VM on this server as the configuration will sustain.
Only problem is not being able to have a 64bit guest OS, 32bit Guest OS images are fine.

Hope this helps.
