I get asked this question on a pretty regular basis. Thought I would document it here as reference.

In order to get the new firmware for a Snapgear UTM you need to have your unit under a support contract.

If you bought it in the last 12 months, then it should still be covered. Obtain the serial number from the unit's console page.

Go to my.securecomputing.com ( Secure Computing owned SnapGear before McAfee purchased the company -
sight is branded as McAfee now once there)

1) Create an account if you don't already have one.
2) Add your unit to the list of your products Do this first, otherwise it doesn't show up in the list to be activated.
3) Go to "Activate Features", and highlight the unit you just added. Tell them the date you purchased it, etc...

Now you can download the firmware and the documentation. 4.0.4 was a bad and a problematic version. 4.0.5 is much better.
The management of this version is considerably different than any of the 3.X code that was out there. I think the screens are
cleaner and it is different in how you allocate users/permissions to the unit.

Users are members of "groups" now, and the abilities of the unit are granted to the "group". Before you
had to set it for each user individually.

For a SG565, they removed a feature I liked which was the ability to mount a USB drive and make it available to the network
for users to use. Removed in 4.0.2 I learned. I really want this feature back!!!!

Good luck!
