Frequently Asked Questions about the assessment

1. What is the goal of Red Hat pre-assessment tests?
Redhat's pre-assessment tests help prospective course participants determine whether they possess the knowledge taught in particular Redhat courses so they can choose the appropriate class for their level of skill and knowledge.

When you complete a pre-assessment test, your results on the test are reported and a recommendation is presented. The web page will also provide the opportunity to email the results to others. If you have been asked to provide your pre-assessment results to a training coordinator in your organization, your supervisor, or a sales representative, do so by sending your results to their email address.

2. How reliable are the tests?
Redhat's pre-assessment tests usually estimate the skills of individual candidates correctly. It is, however, the course participant's responsibility to select and enroll in the appropriate class. Redhat urges all prospective course participants to use the pre-assessments in conjunction with course descriptions, stated prerequisites, and self-appraisal of experience and background to evaluate their readiness for a course. A course for which one is slightly over-prepared will almost always be more beneficial than one for which one is under-prepared.

3. Which test should I take if I am interested in taking Redhat System Administration I - RH124?
If you are interested in taking Redhat's most basic System Administration course, Redhat System Administration I, or its equivalents in eLearning or Redhat Academy, and you already have Linux or Unix command-line experience, you should take the RH124 pre-assessment test.

Note: A high score on this pre-assessment suggests you should consider another, higher-level course.
